3 - Favourite Goth/Industrial Club

Favourite clubs may change from week to week, but there must be atleast one that has a special place in your heart. So when life is getting you down and you want to stare at people prettier then you, you go to...?

The first and only true cyberpunk bar. When William Gibson first coined the phrase he couldn't have imagined anywhere quite like this. Ask yourself, what would happen if Geiger and Salvadore Dali decided to open a dance club together whilst under the influence of crystall meth? Answer: the wildest ride to alternative hell you have ever seen.

Recently into it's second year of successful operation, the Vatikan is situated just off the beaten path in west Toronto. Owned by Lance (of Sanctuary stardom) and Johnny, they have made this club into one of the coolest places for all types of goths.

Go for the '80s goth and retro music, or to lounge on the sofas with your friends. If you can't sit still and don't quite feel like dancing, you can always just shoot a game or two of pool. There's a real range of types in the crowd at Velvet Underground, from nouveau goths to university preps, to the older crowd reveling in hearing the music of their youth. As a nice change from the clubs of the Clubland part of town, you won't have to pay a cover charge for a night of dancing. The ultracool decor includes sculptures of angels created from found metal, adding to the lush goth mood.

One of the spots that set the beat for dance clubs in the '80s, the Big Bop has changed its tune in the mid-'90s. Now features live music most nights of the week, from original indie bands to occasional big stars. One thing hasn't changed: it is still a three-floored funhouse at the corner of Queen and Bathurst, comprising the main-floor Kathedral space, the second-floor club, Reverb, and the intimate third-floor roost, Holy Joe's.

Zen Lounge - Opened early 2000. Now and then they add little things like free hot and cold food for those who come early or giveaways on Fridays. They change the decor and layout of the club on a very regular basis. The ongoing plus of the club is that you don't have to have the best clothes or the fatest wallet to have a good time and yet still feel like you had a great night out.
