Stargazer - 460 Parliament Street, unit #1
Excellent shop. Nice karma, wonderful piercer. I got my tongue pierced twice and she walked me through the whole thing. If you want a totally relaxing experience with a quilified piercer who sets you at ease. This is the place to go.

I've been to Stargazer many times for products and piercings, and the owner is FABULOUS! She's very understanding, patient, and dealt with my problems really well, without complaining. She has even ordered me special rings for my problem-piercings! Her product line, J&B Aftercare, is really gentle and works very well (and everything smells fantastic.) I would recommend her to anyone at all, especially beginners on their first piercing.

I went to Maribelle with a friend to get my much-wanted and long-awaited nipple piercing. At first, I was kind of nervous about the actual piercing part -- not so much that it would hurt (because that doesn't bother me) but that the piercer wouldn't do a good job. I hunted around for piercing studios for a while before someone on the t-g mailing list suggested Stargazer Studios to me. I checked it out. I liked the fact that it wasn't a place where they did both tattoos and piercings -- instead, it was piercings and healing arts. That made me feel way more comfortable.

The studio was cozy -- soft music, wonderful scents filling the air, very clean and professional-looking, but very comfortable at the same time... Maribelle was just finishing with a customer when we came in, and while she was sterilizing her tools she sat down and got to know us a bit (and let us get to know her too), and then talked to us about the piercing process and the healing process and what we should expect. Very informative. She was totally laid back but still very professional. My nervousness faded -- she knows what she's talking about. So she brought us into the back room, took her time getting ready and making sure things were perfect, and then pierced away.

Without making this sound like something that belongs in BME, I'll at least say that she made me feel not the least bit uneasy, which is one of the things I highly praise her for. She did an awesome job with my piercing -- I haven't had any problems and it didn't become infected at all.

Ahh.. one thing I should mention about her aftercare regiment: instead of the usual "anti-bacterial soap twice daily, and salt soaks three times a week" or such, she strictly informed us to NOT use antibacterial soap (as it apparently weakens the immune system) and to instead do the sea salt soaks twice daily (and then use a healing balm on it afterwards). I liked this approach much better anyways -- and, like I said, I didn't have any problems at all.

You have to make an appointment before you can see her though... since it's only Maribelle herself working there. And like Dementia said, make sure you tell her that you're a t-g member :)

All in all, piercing was a wonderful experience in itself, but getting it done at here made it an even better one. I definitely recommend Maribelle to anyone who's considering piercing.
