Borderline (formerly known as Silver Cross) - 331 Queen St W
Awesome
Very clean. Awesome staff. Its a small shop with alot of stuff, so it can get very crowded. Decent prices. From a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 9.5. If it was bigger, it would have been a full 10. I definetly recommend that you visit this shop.

Silver cross is Non-threatening!
Personally, when i first saw/heard about Silver Cross I personally didn't think that it catered to gothic/medieval type clothing because all i could see in my peripheral view was plaid which I am averse to, but as they say, looks are decieving because if you move to the back there are alot of items similar if not as better as the snobby gothic boutique Siren. Also, one thing I appreciate in Silvercross is the non threatning atmosphere, I as a nerved shopper enjoy the non-pressure and friendliness of the staff especially the " Nipple Shirt Guy" he's quite amusing and perverted ( in a great way) so i recommend silver cross. its not really expensive at all. By the way they're Tripp NYC merch is really well priced take a look at it ;) i got a dress for 80$

Studs
Yes..the only reason I'd go 2 Silver Cross is for there awesum selection of studs in different sizes and shapes and such. Buht once i've found the studs i came for in the 1st place i leave becoz it smells weird in there as far as I can remember haha..probably all the leather. Man..i picked up a pair of bondaged up plaid pants and they were like a gagillion dollers. No thnx. N-ehoo this review will self destruct in 5 seconds..

Satisfactory..
This store is only satisfactory as far as it goes for goth wear but it has other things that may or may not catch your attention. It has bondage gear and it has pins and patches of bands and other things.I think that this place would be much better if it was less expensive. You could probably find some of the things you can find there at second hand stores for like a 5th of the price. If you have lots of money I suggest you go here if you don't then you should shop around. HAPPY SHOPPING!! I hope you find what you are looking for!!

Just heard of the name change but that doesn't change the superb quality or Service...for those who don't like it SUCK it up..The owners and staff are nice & not mean..you jsut can't be stupid & loiter.YOu can in all fairness look around browse if you will but Please dont' just stare at the cutie behind the counter ..*luvs ya my 'lil sexy man whore* erhmmmmm ask him questions and opinions on how an outfitl may look on you ...you are sure to get an honest reply..and be confident nhis salesmenship...the owners are very helpful as well so don't be shyand talk to them.. remeber they are looking to make money..But they welcome your business all the time... Now as for the name change CHEERS!! I hope it brings the store the same amoun of customers..... I wish tham all the luck .... Kepp Borderline ALIVE!!!

My Review
Hey, I was at Silver Cross last Saturday and picked up myself a MISFITS t-shirt. 24.95 came to 28 dollars. Good quality shirts, and stuff there but honestly they need to lower prices.

The people are really nice, especially the Goth guy withe the long hair and goatee with the jacket that reminded me of Ville Valo.

Well see the shirt was almost 30 bucks, and my pals bought some patched that cost 15 dollars for only two small patches. This store rules, but lower prices would definitley be good, more customers will come trust...Toronto is expensive..

Meh
Well, I've only been to Silver Cross twice, and I have to say it seems like a pretty good store from what I'm hearing, but from my experiance, it kinda sucks. All they had when I went in was a bunch of leather jackets and some cheezy longsleeve shirts with those 'crazy cool' fire designs etc. And the clerks were both older Asian people when I went and i couldn't understand them worth a crap. Well, its better than the thrift stores in this hick town... anyways, i hope its better when I go next time.

Quality Issues
My boyfriend and I recently purchased some items in Silver Cross (I love all the stuff in that store) however I'm dissapointed in the quality of the merchandise. I bought a silver chain which tarnished badly within 2 weeks, and my boyfriend bought a wallet and the snap-button broke off only 3 days later! Unfortunately, we didn't keep the receipts, so we didn't attempt to return the stuff. The sales people are usually very friendly, but if they're going to charge that much for their stuff, it should be able to last a little longer than ours did!

mmm... goth guys and goth clothes! ;)
i loved loved loved this store! it was great! i personally live in peterborough (about 1.5 away for those of you who don't know) and came down just for the day today (aug 22). seeing as it was my moms birthday (and she took and a chunk of our money for getting a tatoo that's awesome!!!) i didn't just come waltzing in there for my first time with all the money in the bank, so unfortunately i could buy anything else that spiked my interest today, but regardless of my lack of cash... the store was my favourite out of all the goth stores i went to in TO (siren, black market, house of ill repute and of course, the great and holy.... silver cross!) and i will deffinatly be back next time i pay a visit to toronto (which will hopefully be sooner then later)!!!! this stores clothes were fairly reasonable prices compared to some other prices i saw or have heard of and i loved their selection of jewelery and they not only had fishnet shirts in all sizes, but they has a lovely f! ishnet skirt which i loved as well! i deffinatly feel the need for one of their lovely fishnet shirts and wouldn't mind the skirt as well. again, concitering the lack of available money at the time... all i was able to buy was a new belly button ring and my mother bought a lovely (but small) pentagram necklace! now, although the products themselves were stylish ans good looking, the sales clerk whom seems to be labeled "nipple shirt guy" was just as good looking (if not more) then the merchandise! too bad he's not for sale! haha! and yes, as everyone else has seemed to agree... he was exceptionally nice and well mannered and he is deffinatly an insperation (on top of the merchandise) to come back to the store asap! i loved the store, the sexy goth clerk, and everything else! A+! * * * * (four stars!) oh, and from what i noticed, the owners seemed nice enough. i didn't find anything wrong with the store and it was better then all the other stores i looked in!!! :D

I must say that Silver Cross is definitely THE best place to get leather collars and wristbands and the like. They have everything you could possibly imagine as far as that goes, and if they don't have the proper size for you, the little guy working there will pull some superfast adjustments while you wait. They also have different size spikes there so you can customize your stuff and switch things around. Another thing that I really love about the place is (of course) the wicked Lip Service stuff...if I go to Siren, sometimes they don't have every Lip Service item that's on the site. So if they don't I always check Silver Cross, and they just might. For instance, I was there a couple days ago and there was a certain dress from a brand new LS line I was searching for that Siren hadn't recieved yet, and LO and BEHOLD! There it was at trusty old Silver Cross! They also have a wicked selection of fun and filthy buttons! I got one that says "you can't afford me"! HA!

Yesterday I had the chance to visit the much talked about Silver Cross. I had been looking around most of down town for it having forgotten the address, but it was convieniently placed on Queen st. As soon as I walked in I saw an amazing selection on clothing, and for noticably better prices then at most gothic shops. The clerk (nipple shirt guy) was really nice, and I could actually have a conforsation with him without being pressured to buy anything (I had already emptied my wallet..). They also had a sale rack, something that seems to be unknowen at Siren.. But, all in all, I really enjoyed shopping at Silver Cross, and plan on going again sooooooon!

I know some people believe that the Silver Cross is expensive but having lived in North Bay before and now shopping at the Silver Cross you would not image the price differences... it's cheaper! And on top of the money I'm saving there's a bigger selection of clothing. It's a great store. I've even shopped at the Hot Topic stores in Los Angeles, some of which are three times bigger, and the Silver Cross offers the same amount of variety and quality products at the same price. Still to bad about the spikes though...

The owner of Silver Cross are usually very helpful... but I find that a few of the clerks just don't like me. I usually can't afford to buy something everytime I walk into there, but I just like looking at the clothes and oggling over what I may like at some point. The one male clerk who always works weekdays (the only time I go down there) gives me a dirty look every time I walk in, and when I try to be friendly and smile at him because I've seen him at my work, he either sneers at me or ignores me completely. He is the only person who has ever been on shift when I go in, other than one of the owners. Ah well. Must begin to get richer, I suppose. (dreams of $) Then again, if I was rich, I'd shop at Siren.

Nipple-Shirt Guy
Nipple-Shirt Guy...
~laughs at "J"'s dubbing of the male goth clerk at Silver Cross~
Yeah... he's a really awesome dude. He's one of the few sales clerks (I find) who possesses an I.Q, and really doesn't give a shit whether the store sells anything: he'll advocate for the merchandise if he _honestly_ thinks it looks good on you.
I can actually stand there and converse with the guy, which is a first for me at any of these gothic stores in T.O. Usually, the clerks seem so standoffish at the other stores, specially Siren... but, we won't get into that... Siren is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.
And a point to the ladies (and men, if you are so inclined - and DAMNIT, you SHOULD BE - ): get him to talk to you. He has quite the interesting outlook on life, and is very friendly. Super hot too, but I think we all know THAT. If you provide him with enough intellectual stimulation, your 15-minute session (or however long it may be) at Silver Cross is time well spent. JUST DON'T SPEND FORTY MINUTES MULLING OVER WHAT PATCH TO BUY!!! Can you imagine the pain of having to deal with that, if you were a clerk?
Anyways. I've really rambled on and on. ~curtsies to Raven_Nyte~ Thankee for the support... ~winks~
So again, my advice to all:
Shop at Silver Cross! They rawk!

I can't agree more with the fantastic reviews of Silver Cross. It is by far my favourite Goth store in the GTA and again the staff are wonderful (especially "the clerk" that my friends and I have affectionately dubbed "nipple-shirt guy".) I've had nothing but good experiences with this store and all their merchandise is top notch. I love all their collars and cuffs (they have amazing selection) and if by the rare occasion they don't have what you're looking for they'll make it for you. As long as this store is around, I'll keep visiting. (Who knows... it will probably out live me :P)

Did I hear "MEAN"?!?!
I've been going to Silver Cross ever since I can remember... and even though they've changed sales clerks a few times or whatnot, the owners have remained quite the amazing group. I have NEVER had a hard time with them, they have NEVER EVER been rude, or gotten in my face pressing their merchandise.

They don't pressure you to buy anything at all, and if you _don't_ buy anything, they smile and wish you a great day as you leave. They are kind, considerate, and so therefore I don't understand where all the other comments come from. At least... ~snickers~... they're not all stuck up like the elitist goths at Siren.

So anyways: Shop at Silver Cross!!! They rawk.

I have to agree with the eariler posting on Siver Cross .. the owners of this establishment.. are very nice & patient..I too got there and shop quite often , before I go and rot @a certian coffee shop...But for those who know the HOTT gothy behind the counter.. canyou really help but Sit and talk for a lil ' while?? I say not..And to the HOtt Gothy you know who you are * *Evil Grin*..

What it really boils down to is...the owners won't give you trouble if you actually make a conscious effort to at LEAST browse you shouldn't have a problem..SO Cheers & Happy Shopping**

To the girl who thinks that the people at Silver Cross are mean:

I have been shopping at Silver Cross since it opened in 1992 and I know the owners personally. They are very kind and understanding people but unfortunately because of their downtown location, they have their run ins with shoplifters, troublemakers and guess who? people who just hang out in the store and dont buy anything and who take up the salesperson's valuable time.

Everytime I go in there, I buy like 100 bucks worth of stuff, and I am always very polite to them because I know they are busy as hell and can get stressed out. So next time you should take that into account! Cheers, Darkheart

Just wanted to post an updated review of Silver Cross since there hasn't been one in a while. They have just recently gotten in a whole bunch of really great new stuff! (and the new boy behind the counter is a nice new item too for any little goth chick looking for some eye candy while in the core) They've always had great prices and a good selection. Its not there fault they can't sell spikes anymore but they are more then making up for it with all the great stuff they have to offer. So go check them out. You won't regret it.
