Not the only one..
A great resource but NOT the only bead store in town! My personal favorite is Sassy Bead Co. on Yonge north of Davisville. Staff are mostly unhelpful but the range is remarkable.

Bead stores
There is also Courage My Love in Kensington Market (14 Kensington Av) and the prices are NOT BAD. Just a suggestion. They also carry all the stuff like jump rings etc.

Cheap but damn annoying
I wish they'd get a bigger store. Yes they are the cheapest for beads but if you want cheap findings go to Lacy's at 55 Queen St. E. They're in the basement. The staff at Arton are so ANNOYING and have no idea what they are selling. They are selling dyed blue quartz and telling people it is topaz. Beware of theier "gemstone" beads! The dye comes off on your skin or when the beads get wet. There is a new beads store open one block east of Arton and they are getting more and more stock the longer they are open. They are much nicer than the staff at Arton and you won't suffocate from all the pushy hippies confined in such a packed store!!

Monopoly much?
I admit that I do shop at Arton Beads - and it is out of necessity only. They are pretty much the only specialty bead store in the GTA and it agitates me. Their prices are decent and the staff are nice enough but if they don't have what I'm looking for I'm pretty much stuck.

The majority of the items they carry are purchased from the John Bead Company. If you are planning on making a large purchase, I suggest you look into the John Bead catelog available on their website. Or try eBay.

I have been shopping for beads for 10 years and Arton Bead is by far the best and the cheapest.

I was there in June 2001 and loved it. Wished I could have had more time to go back. Isn't there a magazine or website where I could order from them? They should really look into it. I purchased the most unique beads and accessories at Arton. If I'm ever in the Toronto area again, I will definitely drop in.
Thanks!
