Resistor with Analog Pussy
Reverb, Toronto, September 29th 2001

I guess the rumours started flying around sometime in August that Analog Pussy were going to play R3. Now R351570R on its own is enough for me to cancel any plans but this was just an added bonus. So as the weeks went by, rumours were dispelled and it was now fact that Analog Pussy would play R3.

By 11:00 the Reverb already started to fill up. The vibe was electric right from the beginning. Graver was passing out little astronauts to the crowd which was quite cool. In fact Graver and Bathory deserve so much credit for how they set everything up (as well as everyone who helped them). From the decorations, to the pyro, to the video's playing all these things that added up to create the total effect.

So the music was building and the DJ sets were quite intense. But you could also sense that the DJ's were holding back a little. Not wanting to tire the legs of the minions before Analog Pussy took the stage. There was a band that opened up before AP (not sure who it was) but their set was really, really good. They brought the pace down a notch which gave the crowd a chance to catch their breath. And it is a good thing they did. As soon as AP took the stage there was just a blast of energy that came from the crowd. AP played hard and really hard at that. They didn't let up the pace for the hour or so they played - my legs are still burning because of it.

I was really impressed by the job the DJ's did after AP. To try and keep that vibe flowing from such an impressive job from AP was no small feat. But they did, and until close the crowd did not stop moving. Apart from the Juno Reactor show, this was definately one of the best parties I have been to. Everything from what I witnessed went flawlessly.

R351570R has more than proved itself to be one of the most formidable events Toronto has seen in a long time. I think I am scared to see what they will come up with for the next event.
