Could not resist Resistor
Reverb, Toronto, July 28th 2001 |
After much hype - almost
two months worth, Resistor finally happened. I was there as the doors
opened, all set in combat gear, water gun, and lollipops.
I was able to check the layout out before people started coming in (which
wasn't for awhile) and the Reverb was looking pretty good. Decided to take a
seat near the far wall and just started to soak in the vibe that was starting.
One of my two complaints (the next is to follow shortly) was that some of the
best tunes were spun even before a lot of people started showing up. So I
bounced around in my seat for a bit - not ready to be the first one on the
dance floor.
Eventually people started to break the barrier and get everything going. Things
started to pick-up around 12:00, including myself. What the next four hours
brought was pure Psy-Trance bliss. The crowd was moving, the vibe was great. It
really is somewhat refreshing to see the ravers and the goths party together.
There happiness along with our depression seems to make a sort of equilibrium.
Well time for the second complaint. Around 4:00, all of sudden the music shut
off and the lights came on. Talk about sensory overload. They should have given
us some warning. Well apparently the Reverb (or so I heard) wanted the party
over and it was to continue at Area 51. At that point the whole feeling was
gone and it was time to head home. I think the people who set this show up
really have something going here, and they did an outstanding job.
From here on in I think we can expect some great things from the
Cyborganization.
