Event Horizon was a quite different last night from it's previous nights. Mainly being the fact that it was host to The Velvet Underground's first show in about a year. The show consisted of performances by (Toronto bands?) Delica and Dream Corrosion.
Delica hit the stage late and performed adequately. It was pleasent background music, while shooting a game of pool. After their set they handed out free CD's, which was a warm gesture of promotion. (Hey better than stickers with a web page address!)
The night lingered on as both bands took their sweet time setting up.
The stage was then was lit with blood red lights, and errie figures in black stepped forth from the cloudy smoke. In my eyes, they were soul thirsty demons from hell !!! which then came racing through the crowd, evasicating anyone in sight! However that was only for me, since I had been blazing more than a fire breathing dragon.
D.C.'s set started off with some technical problems, but these were later fixed and also apologized for. Most of the songs sounded alike, but they were good /okay. The last song was a cover, I don't remember the band name, but it was some chessy 80's song that D.C. did exceptionally well.
DJ Trauma took over for the rest of the night and played a wicked set that included Skinny Puppy's Warlock(ed) which made up for the nights blunders.
The show was good and the price was even better -FREE! Good work to both bands, and especially Velvet, how 'bout some more free shows?
