Deep Sea Fish April 13th 2001

DSF has yet again improved their monthly event with better atmosphere and a killer sound system in their new home (Reverb). The dark and heavy Psy/Goa traxx kept the small crowd moving all night, and there were just enough people to reach critical mass for an excellent night. The interaction between the patrons and the DJ's was awesome, especially for Dan's set. A CyberGoth contingent made the night dark and ominous, and more of their ilk would enjoy this night.

The Reverb was aglow with black light, with black outlined and evil fish painted on yellow flags that encircled the dancefloor from above. They created a barrier that was suddenly broken around 12:30 and most of the revellers spent the whole night inside that arena. The opportunity to dance atop the speakers in front of the stage, blacklights shining up, was taken by many of us throughout the night and helped to further energize the crowd. The highlight of my evening was the melodically stomping Dan and his vinyl inspired, especially dark beats. He worked the crowd well, bobbing back and forth as he prepared tracks and triumphantly raising his arms in the air with an evil grin just before his expertly chosen beats reached climaxes.

This was a great party, and I look forward to the next one hoping that it doesn't grow too big and sticks to its underground roots.
