Scratching Post This Time It's Personal (Beastmaster/2000)

The devil doll and company are back at it again and this time it's personal (ok..I know that was cheese). Forget the overly pop sound to their previous release "Destruction of the Universe". Scratching Post has attained a new level mixing Nicole Hughes demented pop vocals with a harder edged sound.

I love to hear a woman scream and Nicole's one of the best at it. She seems to be experimenting a lot more on their new cd with what she can accomplish with that powerful voice box of hers...and it works. Tracks like "Fade Away" and "M-Bomb" show that she can belt em out as well as sing sweet. Mix that in with the band's more aggressive styling and you've got a group that are starting to break some boundaries in harder music.

They even screwed around a bit on this cd. "Militiagan" is a track entirely composed of an interview done with the band mixed in with a wicked music background. And then there is "Wake Up You're On Fire" which caught me totally off guard considering it's stands up there with bands like Slayer and the like.

Scratching Post strive to give their fans a wicked music experience whether you're listening to their cds or seeing them live. Their live show has been amazing for a while now. Now it looks like their studio recordings are following up.
