you used to walk beside me
(echoing my footsteps)
but now only emptiness matches my stride
a knot of ravelled emotions
tangled beyond recognition
far past salvation
a book bound by tears
words blur together to form shapes
defined in amorphous terms
a saviour anxiously awaited
never to announce herself
in any perceivable arrangement
hints and glimpses; fleeting images
past the unseen barrier
the illusive dream remains.
