| Initially
formed in early '97, the creative nucleus of Steven and Thor began work on what
was to become Perdition. The band's first public appearance, on Halloween of
that year, brought rave reviews of their haunting sound and beautiful melodies.
The first Perdition CD "With Bitter Waves of Hope" and the remix EP
"Luci" followed shortly afterwards in 1998. These recordings received
play on CIUT radio as well as in several clubs.
Through it all guitarist Steven (formerly of Die Screaming & Head Trauma)
as well as bassist Thor (of Bunchofuckingoofs and Armed and Hammered fame) have
not only survived but their dark visions have caused them to see clearly what
purpose lies before them. They finally, through a relentless and exhaustive
search, have found vocalist Chris in 2001 bringing new lyrical direction. The
somber music of yesteryear is reforged with urgently personal vocals. Renewed
with a heavier powerful musical focus, guitarist Raven, and keyboardist/vocals
Jenn complete the package that was destined from inception.
Perdition creates a new strain of doom that draws heavily from atmospheric goth
metal that infuses adrenaline-charged beats and eerie electronic textures. The
resultant coldwave goth charts new dark musical territory while retaining
accessible hooks.
Those that may expect another EBM industrial act will be greatly disappointed.
Perdition brings cold-wave / goth back to the forefront of what is now severely
lacking in the scene. The smooth mix of masterful electronic programming with
aggressive guitars and crunching bass are a refreshing change from todays'
frigid world of purely computerized industrial. Ultimately, they are an
onslaught of sonic intensity that few can match.
Currently Perdition is in the studio recording another full length CD featuring
new songs as well as some old favorites such as 'Luci' & 'Sorrow'. Expect a
remix EP to be available around the same time.

The 360 Show
was another installment in the regular Indie Rocker soiree at the old Ukrainian
Legion Hall on Queen West. Perditions initial introduction to the gathering
crowd raised little more than indifference in the mostly underaged crowd. This
stance was quickly washed of its attitude when confronted by the bands
relentlessly solid sound.
A stage presence of contrasts marks this band. Thor's massive basslines, and
Vardy's thick guitar stitchings evenly support the surprisingly honest, and
richly satisfying vocal musings of Stephen at centerstage. Through valiant
assertion, the sounds of Perdition draw an emotional line of resistance to the
hints of despair in their music. Standing their ground onstage, the bands
solemn aire and unrepentant groove soon win over many of the jaded youngsters
in the crowd. An almost visible admiration for the strength that speaks pain
without tears or malice.
