| Growing up in
a small town placed AphasiA in a breeding ground of narrow minds. As a result,
AphasiA was driven to create haunting synthetic melodies that blend textured
guitars, indignation, piercing vocals, sex, and aggressive drums to cure
themselves of the frustrations stemming from the human condition. AphasiA had
first drawn from the angst ridden grunge era of their youth, but their sound
continued to evolve due to the influence of industrial, rock and electronic
music. These styles combined to create the musical entity that is AphasiA.
The band consists of Brett Carruthers (Vocals), Darren Campbell (Guitar), Kevin
Oliver (Bass), James Toth (Guitar), and Jim Davis (Drums). They have developed
a following in Toronto, London, and Midland which is where the band originated
from. AphasiA has mainly been performing for the last two years at
self-organized shows. They rent halls, bring together other local acts, and
spread the word through the town and its high schools. Involvement in local
"Battle of the Bands" has also helped to boost AphasiA's popularity.
In the last year, they've played club shows in the Toronto and London area.
AphasiA's live performances have proven to be both intense and energetic, like
their music it goes from one extreme emotion to another. While at an AphasiA
concert, deviant sexuality can quickly turn into violent frustration only to be
followed by a fit of depression.
In 2001, AphasiA released their first CD titled "The Endless
Reverie". The CD was recorded by the band over the course of three months.
They put cover art together, manufactured the disc at home and have sold over a
hundred copies at their shows and through the Internet. Currently, AphasiA is
recording new material in London, ON. using the Music Industry Arts facilities
at Fanshawe College. The bands education through this program has helped them
to successfully record and release independent material.

LF writes: I've seen
Aphasia about 3 to 4 times. From Toronto to London, they have always out played
the opening or main act. They have also shown great care and passion for all of
there fans. I can't wait until the right label comes and snatches them up so
the whole world can enjoy them as much as me and my friends do. BRETT AND KEVIN
ARE THE HOTTEST, THEY MAKE ME CUM!!!!!!!! (July 17th 2002)

Wyatt Cooper writes: Hey, I
saw Aphasia at the battle of the bands in London at Fanshawe college a week
ago. They are a damn good band, but I was dissapointed that they didn't have
their electronics up and running. I was talking to Brett a little before and
after their show and I noticed that he is actually a really down to earth guy.
I mean Solid.
I am interested in helping promote their band to the strong network of people I
know in TO, but that will have to wait until this summer. Hey Bret, If you ever
get to read this, e-mail me at wyattcooper@hotmail.com if you are playing any
shows this summer in toronto, and I assure you that I will bring a strong crowd
looking for a new sound. If you ever need some industrial beats programmed, or
would like some free input, e-mail me and maybe we'll do a collaberation (trust
guy, Iv'e got some new ideas and a good ear). Any way, this is satanboy wyatt
signing off. (April 28 2002)
