ACT Toronto and the Gay West Community Network have formed a new
partnership to present, Java Knights, a monthly west-end social event. The
first official discussion group takes place on Tuesday March 28th, 2006 from
7PM to 9PM at the Gladstone Hotel Art Bar. The event brings forth a group of
individuals interested in discussions on various topics of
interest.
March’s topic of discussion is to be decided among the
group at the beginning of the evening. Past discussion groups have been lively
and entertaining for all in attendance.
The evening also features
special guest, Paul Barber from Body Electric, who will be doing a presentation
entitled “Unleashing the Hotness”. Barber’s workshop is all
about how to look at oneself as sexy and hot.
ACT Toronto has made it a
mandate to make itself heard throughout the greater GTA, and felt that by
aligning with Gay West they would have the opportunity to perhaps reach a new
audience that doesn’t frequent the downtown core regularly. Each evening
will most likely have some form of presentation, guest speaker or performance,
along with an organized discussion period. A topic will be chosen in advance
and each individual will have an opportunity to state their opinion within 2
minutes at the initial round table opening. Once everyone has spoken once, the
discussion will begin and anyone can contribute at any point during the
conversation. There are a few guidelines that must be adhered to and a
moderator will ensure things run smoothly. Topics may range from sex to
politics and everything in between.
