METROPOLIS NEWS! Mindless Self Indulgence, VNV Nation, Terrorfakt and More!

News from: metropolis-records.com

VNV Nation has delivered the master for the new album, Matter + Form, and it is amazing. Simply put, this release is light years beyond anything we could have expected. On top of that, as a special preview to the album, the first single off the record, Chrome, is going to be released as an online only single, available March 22nd from iTunes and all major online digital music stores on April 5th.
That's right folks; the only way to get Chrome will be digitally!

On top of that, we have also received the masters for Mindless Self Indulgence. With a name and reputation that speak for themselves, Mr. Urine and co. have offered up a smattering of smart-assed goodness for you. And it is going to be available three different ways!

Other big news to report:
Metropolis Records announces a move into the future.

Metropolis Records is pleased to announce that their releases will be available digitally starting March 8th at all of the online digital music sites (such as iTunes, etc). On March 8th, consumers will find all of the current 2005 releases as well as the Juno Reactor releases. Each Tuesday more and more artists will have their Metropolis releases online for sale. New releases will be made available for purchase through digital retailers the day that the CD is available in stores and all of Metropolis's back catalog will be online by the end of May.

So far the schedule will look like this:
March 8th - current 2005 releases and Juno Reactor releases
March 15th - all of the Wumpscut releases
March 22nd - all of the Assemblage 23, Informatik and Din_Fiv releases, as well as a pre-release of the new VNV Nation song "Chrome"
March 29th - all of the Velvet Acid Christ, Claire Voyant and MonoChrome releases

We are extremely proud to announce two more major releases for April:

VNV Nation Matter + Form MET 370 street date: April 12th, 2005
Almost exactly three years after the release of their groundbreaking album Futureperfect, VNV Nation returns with Matter + Form. Shaking off the conventions and clichés of the EBM and Futurepop genres, VNV Nation have taken the time to craft another release that can not just be considered an album, but a work of art. Produced by world renowned German producer Humate and Ronan Harris, the man behind the music of VNV Nation, Matter + Form stands as a testament to the evolution of electronics-based music, and will in time be hailed as a benchmark for others to be judged. From the haunting, quiet beauty of tracks like Colours of Rain to the introspective depths of Homeward and Arena, to the dancefloor anthems like Chrome, Entropy, and Strata, Matter + Form is an album crafted to move not only bodies on the dancefloor, but hearts as well. With every release so far they have changed the face of the genre, but with Matter + Form they haven't changed it, they have completely re-invented it. No longer just the best EBM band in the world, VNV Nation has now announced themselves as the new face of electronic music.

04.) Colours of Rain
05.) Strata
06.) Interceptor

Mindless Self Indulgence You'll Rebel to Anything street date: April 12th, 2005 MET 365 (explicit), MET 366 (clean), MET 367 (vinyl)

One of the most well loved bands to sign with Metropolis for 2005 is Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI), a band whose name manifests itself during their incendiary live shows. Their music is a hybrid of Atari driven electronics with a venomous splash of ADD Punk Rock. In the vein of their cult classic records such as Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy, MSI and Metropolis Records are proud to present You'll Rebel to Anything. MSI's fanatical fans will be pleased to know that there will be three different versions of the release; a 10 track explicit version with a video for "You'll Rebel to Anything," an 11 track clean version with a video for "Diabolical," and an 11 track extra heavy double vinyl version. The clean and vinyl versions have two entirely different bonus tracks and all three have their own individual artwork!

Members of the musical community have spoken highly of MSI:
"They opened for us in the States and they're just so fucking original." - Jonathan Davis (Korn)
"Mindless Self Indulgence are, without question, one of the most creative and genre-swirling outfits on the scene." - Serj Tankian (System of a Down)
"I love the complete chaotic synergy of Mindless Self Indulgence. Mindless are smearing lines between genres, and that's healthy. They are easily one of the best bands to come out in the part 10 years!" - Corey Taylor (Slipknot)
"MSI are, to me, how punk rock should sound in the 21st century: abrasive, brilliant, and sounding like no one else." - Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly)

Our release schedule:

Girls Under Glass Zyklus MET 360 Street Date Feb 8, 2005

Hamburg, Germany based Girls Under Glass, formed in 1986, are still going strong with members Voker Zacharias, Hauke Harms, and Axel Ermes. Nineteen years after the bands inception, and ten studio-releases later, this hot Electro-Industrial-Goth band are still leading representatives of modern alternative music.

In this, the bands tenth album, Girls Under Glass have found a new North American home, Metropolis Records. Zyklus is a testament of GuG's open mindedness. Rock music is forged with electronic programming and a mixture of English and German lyrics to run though a spectrum of metal to electro to pop without losing sight of any type of fluency. Solid songwriting, intense atmospheres, and outstanding vocals make Zyklus one of the best label debuts Metropolis has seen in a long time.

Wumpscut Blondi MET 361 Street date: March 8th, 2005
Wumpscut is a name that everyone in the industrial/goth underground knows very well. His influence in the scene is second to none. So much so that band after band tries to mimic his insatiable style, but as every one will tell you, there is only one Wumpscut. Merely one year since he released Bonepeeler, he is prepared to deliver unto the unsuspecting masses Evoke. Until then, as a taste of things to come, Wumpscut presents Blondi, a six track single that displays his talent for making dark omniscient electro. Each of the four remixes on Blondi take on a life of their own next to the two album versions. Wumpscut's Blondi single blows away all other competitor's albums!

Combichrist Everybody Hates You MET 364 Street Date: March 8th, 2005

After releasing two albums with his band Icon of Coil last year and releasing an album by his side project Panzer AG, singer Andy LaPlegua isn't a man who likes to sit idle. In amongst the three albums and an Icon of Coil North American tour, he found the time to work on his second side project Combichrist. The fruits of his labor are about to be revealed with the release of Combichrist's Everybody Hates You. If you are expecting it to sound like an incarnation of Icon of Coil, you are sorely mistaken. The same tedious programming, sequencing, and attention to detail are still present but Andy has taken a different musical approach. Aggressive EBM is grafted to power noise electronics with floor shattering beats, crunchy synths, catchy melodies, and plenty of well placed samples. Everybody Hates You is destined to be a crowd pleaser, and perhaps just the spark needed to create a new trend in electronic music.

Diary of Dreams MenschFeind MET 362 Street date: March 8th, 2005

As a follow-up to their last album, Nigredo (November 2004), Diary of Dreams presents the mini-album MenschFeind. More than just an ordinary sequel, MenschFeind is a pun that refers to the hatred of man by combining the terms "man" and "foe." The mini-album required a set of strong nerves, musically as well as visually for Diary of Dreams to combine the melancholy and darkness the band is famous for with a closeness that embraces the unsuspecting listener almost uncomfortably and will refuse to let go! MenschFeind is not quiet or peaceful or even mystical, it is the outcry of revolution. Fans will quickly discover that the new oeuvre is no second rate Nigredo material! All of the tracks are brand new and exclusive to MenschFeind. True to their usual detail loving nature, Diary of Dreams has created a dark and apocalyptic vision that follows-up Nigredo beautifully.

track-listing:

1 - MenschFeind
2 - Haus der Stille
3 - Day-X-Relic
4 - Killers
5 - Treibsand
6 - the Cage
7 - Pentaphobia

Lights of Euphoria Gegen den Strom MET 363 Street date: March 22nd, 2005

After releasing the successful album Krieg Gegen die Maschinen and the long awaited best of Querschnitt in 2004, Lights of Euphoria aren't wasting any time in producing new material. Already making waves with the "One Nation" import single, the band is ready to dive into the club scene once again with their newest album, Gegen den Strom (Against the River) which is multifaceted, powerful, exciting, and highly danceable at the same time. It represents the first time that this exceptional project presents itself more as a full band and less like a long-term co-operation between lots of various artists. Mastermind Torben Schmidt abstained from the typical guest-vocals to enable Jimmy Machon (LoE live vocalist) to sing 90% of the twelve new tracks. Next to the single "One Nation," there are songs like "Liquid Lust," "The Night," "White Wall," "Feel the Pain" (featuring Dennis Ostermann of In Strict Confidence) and "You Are" (featuring Neo of Punto Omega) that will surely cast a spell over the listener. The North American version of Gegen den Strom features five bonus club mixes not found on the regular edition of the import.

Heimataerde Gotteskrieger MET 371 Street date: April 26th, 2005

With tracks like "Gib Mir" and "Ich Hab Die Nacht Getraeumet" already taking over the dance floors here in the US, Heimataerde has laid the groundwork for his club invasion. Let the attack begin!

[:SITD:] Coded Message: 12 MET 372 street date: April 26th, 2005

The number twelve has had significant meaning in many cultures and systems of belief. According to numerology, "12" stands for Unity and Perfection. The European Union decided to use 12 stars on their flag as a symbol for unity. The number "12" is symbolic of the creation of the universe. Twelve appears several times in the Bible, i.e., the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve Disciples of Christ, twelve stones, twelve princes, etc. In the old Babylon the "12" stands for Nergal, the God of the underworld, war and death. This is the background to the new [:SITD:] album CODED MESSAGE: 12. In exploring these themes, [:SITD:] have created another masterpiece, twelve tracks that seamlessly move from full on aggression to haunting beauty. Dark, harsh and powerful, CODED MESSAGE: 12 is brilliantly produced, full of bone crunching beats and apocalyptical electro hymns. The perfect stuff for the international club scene!
