New Scream Special Edition |
Toronto-Goth.com is a dark community resource, and has been providing
information on clubs, events and shops, posting interviews, reviews and more,
as well as serving as a meeting place for Toronto since 1999. TG is a
non-profit website, and its sole purpose is to provide information on Toronto
to anyone and everybody who is interested in the dark culture that is so rich
and varied within Toronto and the GTA.
In February 2003,
Toronto-Goth.com launched New Scream at Savage Garden (550 Queen
St. W.) in Toronto which takes place on the first Thursday of every month. Each
night features a different band(s) and dj(s). Our hope is to expose people to
the amazing talent that our city has to offer which you may not otherwise have
a chance to see.

The roster of
bands and DJs who have performed at New Scream nights reads like a Who's Who of
Toronto's dark music scene. Bands have included Sylvania, The Divine, wrhektal
insaanyti, Perdition, Lust, Aphasia, First Born Unicorn, The Birthday Massacre,
!Bang Elektronika, Digital Geist and A Random Exit. DJs who've spun at New
Scream include: Karnage, Letro, Prospero, Darq, Void, Darktide, Human Clone,
Bio, S'Foo, Dizzy, Flipps. Future talent includes Eliminate The Body, Universal
Love Attack, Metha Mean, DJ Barbi and more.
New Scream could not, and
can not, happen without the generous support of many individuals and
organizations within the community. First and foremost, Paul Samuels and the
staff at Savage Garden Nightclub have been instrumental in bringing this
monthly event to Toronto. Set to Stun Music provides the sound and technical
support for the nights. The raffle draw donations from Nocturnalia House of
Dreams, Siren, and Yonge St. Tattoos are a real treat for event goers. The
tireless dedication of the New Scream Staff (Dem, Ian, Steven) and volunteers
(Dark Dancer, Ikaris and Nighthawk), as well as the financial and promotional
relationships with Ava' Tar and Coldstream Associates are also instrumental to
New Scream.
Each monthly show was digitally recorded, and the result is
the New Scream Compilation. This CD is truly unique, and is a rare
showcase of Toronto bands, exactly as you may have heard them in the clubs.
This is not a typical compilation CD, where songs from studio CDs are taken
from various artists and compiled onto one cd. The New Scream compiliation will
have a flow to it, and the songs will mesh together even though they're by
different bands, each with a different sound. It will be available for purchase
at the offical release party on November 16th 2003, all future New Scream
events, select Toronto stores, and online.
The culmination of 10 nights
of monthly New Scream events calls for a special party. We are proud to
announce the New Scream Special Edition and CD Release, taking place at
Savage Garden on Sunday November 16th 2003. It will run during both the day and
night. We are happy to include an all ages day festival as we recognize the
importance of all ages events in the community. They serve to introduce younger
members into the scene, and to provide them with the same opportunity as those
over 19 have to visit clubs, see live bands, and have a good time. The evening
portion of the event will be 19+ only. Day and night events will have three
bands performing, as well as DJ's, fashion shows, vendors, and the opportunity
to meet and greet others within Toronto's dark/gothic/industrial/darkwave
community.
