We reported on May 25th
2002 that DJ M was to leave Toronto and Savage Garden to return to
Italy. The owner of Savage Garden began accepting demo cds from aspiring djs to
find a replacement for Friday
nights.
The schedule for this went something like:
Friday June 28th, Dj Antithesis
Friday July 5th, Dj Trauma
Friday July 12th, Dj Flipps
Friday July 26th, Dj's Prospero & Vizgig
Friday Aug. 9th, Jimi LaMort and Phink
Paul, the owner of Savage
Garden, then announced "It's been 6 weeks and the hunt continues. Its now
down to two dj's. All the sets, from all the hopefuls were extremely good.
However, there is only one slot so its down to.... Dj Trauma V's the Phink/Jimi
Lamort combo. Two different approaches, two different styles but each with an
intensity that will rock your world. Over the next number of weeks the two will
duke it out on alternate weeks until the crowd has spoken on who shall have
that coveted resident spot on Friday. Now's your chance to get involved in your
scene and cast your votes. Just mail away to paul@savagegarden.ca. Or even
better come out and give your hopeful your support in person. Body counts and
bar takes will be considered in the final judging. "
Finally, a winner was chosen: "Well it took 7 weeks to find him. Now
Savage Garden is pleased to announce its new resident Dj Trauma. Fridays
continue to be the premier industrial night in Toronto with Dj Trauma serving
it up hard and fast. Electro, Ebm, Ethreal with no Cover. Thank you to everyone
for their input about the Dj sets, the response was overwhelming. The scene
turned out every Friday and spoke for what it wanted. I would like to
especially thank the Dj's who tried out for this gig. All of whom did some
amazing work. " (Paul, owner of Savage Garden)
DJ Trauma adds:

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
NEW FRIDAY RESIDENCY AT SAVAGE GARDEN
CARBON CHAMBER FRIDAYS
with DJ TRAUMA
every Friday at SAVAGE GARDEN
=======================================
THE BATTLE IS OVER. THE CRUSADE CONTINUES.
The quest for a new Friday DJ ended two nights ago as I completed my return to
the booth at Savage Garden. Countless clubbers--and owner Paul Samuels--were
convinced: Trauma is in. I don't mind telling you I was fighting tears up in
the booth more than once.
I've been told for over a year that I deserve a higher profile club night. Once
there came an opportunity, I made very sure I worked as hard as possible to
make that happen. Thanks very, very much to everyone who wished me well, to the
other amazing DJs who pushed me, and to Paul, Brenda and the other Savage
Garden staff for welcoming me into a role with huge potential.
I hope you'll all look forward to enjoying nights full of energy as I bring you
your favorite and the freshest sounds of ebm, electro, synthpop, noise and
ethereal.
Welcome to Carbon Chamber Fridays.
