World

'Synthpop Goes the World' is a three day electronic music festival
involving 15 bands and several DJ's. It will showcase both old and new synthpop
and that future pop sound. This will be the concert event of the year and
should not be missed.
SynthPop Goes the World's organizer, DJ Lazarus, has announced another band to
the lineup. The Spoons, the Canadian synthpop band hailing back to the 80's
alternative radio is now under new management and playing the occasional gig.
Starting in 1979, the quartet garnered a U-Know Award as 'Group of the Year
1983'. They had great success with hits like 'Nova Heart', 'Old Emotions',
'Tell no Lies', 'Arias and Symphonies', 'Romantic Traffic' and many more. The
Spoons are true artists and have an uncompromising approach to creating
electronic music that ranges from the almost experimental to club floor
favourites. Few bands have captured the essence of early synth music so
perfectly as the Spoons and they are truly 'the last of a dying breed'. Every
synth fan should run out and buy 'Collectible Spoons' which is a best of the
Spoons CD. Their last original recordings came out in 1988 as their music was
originally synth based and swayed more to pop.
Trivia: 'The Spoons' are actually just called 'Spoons', but the 'The' is
added to make the sentences sound better.
There are 2 remaining bands to be added to the bill for SGTW - so stay tuned
!
